Gausman was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following Tuesday's start. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 3.2 innings against the Twins. While the move may seem like punishment for Gausman's struggles Tuesday, it seems like the Orioles' are just strategically freeing up a roster spot in between his next start for the O's. By optioning him Tuesday night, the team starts his 10-day minor league clock Wednesday so that he can make one start for Norfolk and will be able to be recalled to start for Baltimore next Saturday.
