Gausman (3-5) allowed seven runs on eight hits and six walks across 3.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Yankees. He did not record a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Most of the damage to Gausman's line was done in the first inning, when he allowed a two-run single to Starlin Castro before Gary Sanchez belted a three-run home run. He ran into more trouble in the fourth, allowing another pair of runs before he was yanked with one out. While this season has been quite frustrating for Gausman and any fantasy owners who have stuck with him, this shellacking is especially discouraging since he had appeared to be on the right track with a 3.65 ERA over his previous four starts. Now the owner of an unsightly 6.49 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP, Gausman will next toe the rubber Friday against the Cardinals.
