Gant was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Gant will join the Cardinals for a second time this season; he made one appearance for the big club earlier in the season, allowing two runs while striking out three batters in 3.1 innings. He's worked exclusively as a starter with Triple-A this season -- accumulating a 3.83 ERA and 99:25 K:BB across 103.1 innings -- so he's expected to serve in long relief role for the Cardinals. Gant will take the roster spot of Kevin Siegrist, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
