The 29-year-old Freeman will get another major-league opportunity with Jean Segura (hamstring) landing on the 10-day DL, but Taylor Motter figures to see the majority of the playing time at shortstop in Segura's absence. While Freeman has hit .314/.375/.423 in parts of four seasons at Triple-A, those numbers are inflated by the favorable hitting environments of the Pacific Coast League.
