Freeman had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman has played all three outfield positions in his minor league career, as well as getting starts at shortstop, first and second base. This makes him a perfect candidate to fill the void left by utility player Chris Herrmann, who was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday with a hamstring ailment. Playing time won't be guaranteed for the 28-year-old, who owns a .798 OPS this season at Triple-A, but if he does get in a game, Freeman would be making his Major League debut.
