Fowler declined the Cubs' qualifying offer for the 2017 season, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Fowler opted to turn down the $17.2 million qualifying offer and will explore offers during free agency. The 30-year-old put up a .276/.393/.447 line to go with 84 runs and 48 RBI with the Cubs in 2016. However, he was only able to play in 125 games as he made a month-long stint on the DL with a hamstring injury.
