Floro fared better in his second major league appearance, giving up only a hit and a walk over two scoreless innings in a 4-1 loss to the Red Sox on Saturday. He also recorded a pair of strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old southpaw had a somewhat rocky debut July 7 versus the Angels, giving up an earned run on three hits over 1.1 innings. Floro was much more impressive in his encore, going through the heart of a dangerous Red Sox order largely unscathed. He gave up a leadoff double to Jackie Bradley, Jr. to start the eighth, but otherwise retired the likes of Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts and David Ortiz, while also fanning Aaron Hill and Sandy Leon. Floro is expected to provide some help for a highly-used Rays relief corps in lower-leverage scenarios.
