Flexen was added to the Mets' 40-man roster on Friday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.

The Mets opted to protect Flexen from the Rule 5 draft. The 6-foot-3 righty notched a 3.56 ERA but posted just a 16.6 percent strikeout rate in 25 starts at High-A last year. He is a potential back-end starter down the road.
