Pineda (6-8) threw five innings of one-run ball against Kansas City on Saturday, striking out three without a walk to earn the victory.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was making his first start since returning last week from an oblique strain. He pitched in relief in his first game back but was sufficiently stretched out to return to the rotation Saturday, and he responded with five strong innings while throwing 50 of his 72 pitches for strikes. An Andrew Benintendi RBI single in the fourth inning was the lone blemish on Pineda's line. Pineda owns a 3.87 ERA and 79:18 K:BB in 93 innings this season. He's lined up for a tough road matchup against the Blue Jays in his next scheduled start.
