Felix Doubront confirmed to the Boston Globe the he's struggled with his velocity this season. "You want a little bit more and it's not there," Doubront said. "Sometimes I don't have that power to get swing and misses and go in hard on hitters." Doubront is coming of a career-high 161 innings in 2012, but insists he's not dealing with a physical issue. He's been consistently throwing 88-89 mph this year and hasn't been effective with his secondary pitches. The Red Sox have Allen Webster waiting in the minors if he continues to struggle. Doubront has a 5.67 ERA in five starts.
