Gilbert allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings in Monday's win over the Red Sox. He struck out nine and did not factor in the decision.

Gilbert coughed up a solo homer to Jose Iglesias in the third followed by another RBI base hit by Iglesias in the fifth. He completed six innings in a start for the first time since Aug. 10 and has now allowed two or fewer runs in three straight outings. Gilbert maintained his 5-5 record while lowering his season ERA to 4.97 through 101.1 frames. The right-handed rookie is projected to take the mound in Kansas City this weekend.
