ESPN's Tim Kurkjian was told by "Mets people" that 100-125 innings from Johan Santana this season would be considered "a bonus." This might sound like a doom and gloom scenario, but this would still put him in the range of 15-20 starts with an average of six innings. Santana threw 25 pitches during his first bullpen session Friday and said he "felt really good," but it's simply impossible to predict how his surgically-repaired shoulder will hold up as he increases his workload. Predicting how many innings he'll throw is pretty worthless right now.
