ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Mariners recently scouted Marlon Byrd. The M's are in the market for a right-handed power bat, and Byrd certainly fits the profile. The 36-year-old has slugged 18 homers and driven in 52 runs this season while sporting a .261/.313/.481 batting line. He's in the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract with the Phillies.
