Ernesto Frieri has been removed as the Angels closer for the time being. The writing was on the wall when Dane De La Rosa was given the save opportunity on Friday, and Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Saturday his preference is to use Frieri in low-leverage situations until he regains his previous form. Frieri hasn't pitched since August 6, allowing four runs in his last two appearances spanning one full inning.
