Ellsbury was diagnosed with a bruised nerve in his left elbow, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi said that the team hopes Ellsbury will be able to play in the Yankees' upcoming games against the Cubs and Reds. If he's unable to do so, then they will likely place him on the disabled list to recover. Due to his current status, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Ellsbury was withheld from Wednesday's lineup against Toronto. In the meantime, look for Aaron Hicks to step in and start in his place.
