Ellsbury (knee) hit on the field Tuesday for a second day in a row, but he is not yet ready to begin playing in minor league rehab games, ESPN New York reports. Manager Joe Girardi confirmed prior to Tuesday's game that Ellsbury will head back to New York with the team rather than head to Tampa to begin a rehab assignment. "It's just not where we want it to be physically," Girardi said. "He's not where we want him to be, so we're not going to risk it." Ellsbury had suggested recently that he was eyeing a return before the end of July, but the skipper said it will be "pretty difficult" to meet that target.
