Eickhoff was removed from his start Sunday following a rain delay, Matt Gelb of the Philly Inquirer reports. He had thrown just 51 pitches.
EDGE Analysis
The rain delay was only 24 minutes long, but that was long enough for Philadelphia brass to pull the 26-year-old from the game. It was admittedly a bit of a surprising move, as Eickhoff had been cruising through five innings of scoreless, two-hit ball. No word of an injury has surfaced just yet, so it sounds like the Phillies are just being overly cautious.
