Eickhoff (0-1) gave up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
He traded goose eggs with Brandon Finnegan for six innings before Joey Votto deposited a mistake into the right-field seats to lead off the bottom of the seventh, sticking Eickhoff with a tough-luck loss to begin the season. A 1.4 HR/9 was the main blemish on the 26-year-old's stat line in 2016, and at least on Wednesday it didn't seem to be a flaw he's found a way to correct. Eickhoff's next start will come Monday at home against the Mets.
