Duffy (shoulder) threw another bullpen session Tuesday, and he's scheduled for a simulated game Thursday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports. Duffy continues to make progress, but it's unclear whether he'll immediately slot back into the rotation once he's ready to return. The Royals might consider using him as a long reliever/sixth starter until the need arises for a replacement in the rotation. Chris Young has been effective, and Jason Vargas has improved, but Jeremy Guthrie gave up 11 runs in his last outing, ballooning his ERA to 6.70.
