Duffy will stretch out his throwing distance to 120 feet before the Royals clear him to throw off a mound again, perhaps at some point during the upcoming week. Even if he's able to do so, it seems unlikely that Duffy will be available by the time his next turn in the rotation comes up Thursday against the Twins, making Sam Gaviglio the current frontrunner to make a spot start in his stead. Duffy could end up missing additional starts beyond Thursday, but more clarity on that front won't arrive until he advances further in the rehab process.
