Chicago has yet to announce a corresponding move, but the team will presumably use the open 40-man roster spot created by the transaction to clear room for the newly-signed Ryan Tepera or to activate Kyle Ryan from the COVID-19 injured list. The Cubs previously claimed Stock off waivers from the Red Sox in December after he posted a 4.73 ERA and 1.95 WHIP across 13.1 innings out of Boston's bullpen in 2020.
