Ahmed went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 6-2 win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Ahmed was part of a five-run uprising in the seventh inning to break open a close game. Moments like these have been few for the 31-year-old shortstop, who at his peak was batting .238 in early June. He currently sits at .226 with a .624 OPS. Ahmed could lose some starts over the final weeks to Josh Rojas, but the club doesn't have a heir apparent ready to take over at short. Manager Torey Lovullo will want to give Rojas ample at-bats the rest of the way, but he can play multiple positions and will not need to play shortstop in order to get those plate appearnances.
