Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly is "optimistic" Gordon (hip) will return to the lineup Friday for Game 1 of the NLDS, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports. Gordon was not in the starting lineup of Sunday's regular season finale after hip discomfort forced an early exit from Saturday's contest. He anticipates being ready for the playoffs, however, where the speedy 26-year-old would return to his regular role atop the batting order.
