Thursday's off day will allow the team to start Marco Estrada, J.A. Happ and Aaron Sanchez (in that order) on normal rest in its critical series against Boston this weekend. Dickey will be the odd man out but he will presumably just move to Monday, and he'll draw a more favorable matchup in the Rays instead of the dangerous Red Sox.
