Diamondbacks signed INF John McDonald to a two-year, $3 million contract. McDonald gets $1.5 million in 2012 and another $1.5 million in 2013. The 37-year-old batted just .169/.222/.203 in 63 plate appearances after joining the D'Backs in late August, but he's a pretty slick defensive infielder and should be a reliable utilityman in 2012. If Stephen Drew (ankle) isn't back to 100 percent by Opening Day, the veteran McDonald could even draw some starts in the early going at shortstop.
