Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Wednesday that he plans to continue sitting Stephen Drew in certain matchups. Drew has sat two out of the last three times that the Diamondbacks have faced a left-handed starter. While Gibson's main motivation is giving his players regular rest, he indicated that it will likely continue. "Stephen wants to play every day," said Gibson. "But it makes more sense to match up lefties and righties at certain positions right now." We would mind more if Drew was producing, but he's batting just .171 with one home run over his last 18 games. This arrangement probably won't last long, but keep a close eye on Gibson's lineup card.
