Despite the fact that contract extension talks are on hold, the padres have no intention of trading Chase Headley. Headley has remained firm in his stance that he doesn't want to discuss a contract extension during the season, but that hasn't caused the Padres to panic. He won't become a free agent until after the 2014 season, so there is still plenty of time for the two sides to work out an agreement, and no reason for the Padres to be in a hurry to deal away their best player.
