DeGrom was scratched from his Tuesday start due to shoulder soreness and will return to New York to be examined Monday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports. Mets' assistant GM John Ricco broke the news Sunday morning on deGrom, who said he felt the discomfort after his outing Thursday. It's too early to speculate as to how long deGrom will be out, but the words "shoulder soreness" for a pitcher are never a good thing, though deGrom doesn't believe it's anything serious. If deGrom misses just the one outing, Carlos Torres will fill in. If it's multiple starts, Noah Syndergaard or Rafael Montero could get the call to fill in.
