DeGrom is still unsure when he'll resume throwing but suggested he could be cleared to do so as soon as Friday, Newsday's Marc Carig reports. While playing catch in the days following his Aug. 7 outing, deGrom experienced shoulder soreness and the team quickly ordered an MRI to gauge the extent of the issue. The exam cleared deGrom of any structural damage but did show tendinitis in his rotator cuff, leading to his placement on the 15-day DL. Even if he does resume throwing Friday, it may be a long shot to think deGrom could return Aug. 22 when first eligible, but it sounds like deGrom at least has a chance to make it back before September.
