DeGrom (4-3) was rocked for eight runs on 10 hits in Tuesday's 10-8 loss to the Rangers. He struck out two and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
The outing pushed the righty's ERA to 4.75 and WHIP to 1.44 -- never-before-seen numbers from a guy whose career-worst ERA was last season's 3.04. DeGrom is having a bizarre season, as his velocity is up and his strikeout rate is easily a career high (although he didn't miss many bats this time around), but his walk rate's risen too and he's been rather prone to the long ball. If there's a silver lining for deGrom, it's his 3.18 xFIP, which suggests he's gotten unlucky in many regards. Still, considering that he's been ripped for 15 runs over eight innings in his last two starts, fantasy owners should approach deGrom with some degree of trepidation heading into Sunday's start in Atlanta.
