DeGrom (4-2) got blown up to the tune of seven runs on eight hits and five walks over four innings in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the third time in 2017 that deGrom has issued five or more walks in a start -- something he didn't do even once in either of the last two seasons. His massive spike in strikeouts (now 92 in 68 innings) certainly helps compensate for that decline in control, but the results have not been great for the 28-year-old righty, as he's now sitting on a 3.97 ERA and 1.37 WHIP -- both easily career worsts. However, he also holds career highs in BABIP (.338) and HR/FB (18.2 percent), suggesting that deGrom has been the victim of some bad luck.
