DeGrom (3-1) was stuck with his first loss of 2016 after allowing three runs on eight hits in just five innings against the Padres on Thursday. He struck out only two and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year hurler just didn't have it from the beginning, so manager Terry Collins wasn't shy about hitting for him in the top of the sixth. DeGrom was hit hard all evening, including allowing an RBI single to the opposing pitcher, Colin Rea. Consider this nothing more than a bump in the road for deGrom, who'll have a chance to bounce back Tuesday against the Dodgers.
