DeGrom (2-1) gave up five runs on eight hits and five walks with five strikeouts over five innings in Wednesday's 16-5 win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Yes, that's a lot of fives. It's unusual to see him show such poor control, but deGrom labored through this outing, throwing 109 pitches (68 strikes). Although this was easily his worst outing of the year, deGrom's offense picked him up in a big way. It's worth remembering that the stud righty had recorded double-digit whiffs in three straight coming in, and his 49:16 K:BB in 36.2 innings is rather spectacular. Look for a bounce-back effort against the Giants on Monday.
