Since no DH spot is available in the interleague series and manager Bob Melvin is eager to keep rookie outfielder Jaycob Brugman's bat in the lineup, there won't be any room in the starting nine for Davis for the second straight day. With Davis sitting on a .266 on-base percentage for the season and the 27-37 Athletics sitting 16 games out of first place in the AL West entering play Wednesday, it wouldn't be surprising if the 36-year-old was gradually phased out of the lineup in the second half in order to make way for the organization's younger talent.
