Davis is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox. Davis was in the lineup the previous three games with the White Sox bringing lefties to the hill, but he also got the start at the top of the order ahead of Anthony Gose in the preceding two games against the Indians when right-handers started. With that in mind, it appears Gose's struggles in recent weeks have allowed Davis to pass him up on the depth chart, perhaps spelling an end to the hard platoon. Davis will pick up a rest Sunday, but if Gose fails to ignite the offense, don't be surprised if Davis is back in there for the Tigers' next game Tuesday against right-handed Pirates ace Gerrit Cole.
