Manager Terry Francona has made a concerted effort to carve out more starts lately for Abraham Almonte, whose hot hitting is beginning to cost Davis some at-bats. The veteran speedster will now sit for the third time in six games and could be forced to occupy the small side of a platoon in left field with Almonte, a switch-hitter who finds himself in the lineup Sunday with righty Jered Weaver pitching for the Angels.
