David Wright spoke on the Mets' pregame show on Friday, stating that he will not discuss a contract extension during the season. He made it clear that he will resume talks in the offseason only. While it would be beneficial and cost effective for the Mets to try to lock up Wright as early as possible, it looks like they'll have to wait until after the season to work out a deal. If no extension is reached, Wright is slated to become a free agent after the 2013 season.
