David Ortiz underwent ultrasound treatment for his right Achilles tendon Monday. Ortiz will be in a walking boot for the next 7-10 days and won't be able to run for 4-6 weeks, but should have plenty of time to get ready for spring training. "I did it just to make sure," said Ortiz. "I talked to so many people that had it done, so I wanted to be sure. They said they were sore after doing it, but I wasn't sore at all." Ortiz, who turns 37 in November, is due to hit free agency five days after the World Series.
