David Ortiz is looking for a one-year extension on his current contract, he said in a discussion with WEEI.com's Rob Bradford. "We're good. We talked, they're talking and I just asked for one year. I didn't ask for anything crazy. It wasn't like I asked for a five-year deal. It's a one-year extension I asked for," Ortiz said of his discussions with the club. In the same conversation the 38-year-old said talks with the club have been "great." It was reported earlier in the week that Ortiz was unhappy with the team's hesitation to offer a long-term contract, but the designated hitter is trying to squash those notions. His current contract expires after the 2014 season.
