David Ortiz is expected to undergo shockwave therapy on his right Achilles over the offseason. Ortiz has already received a platelet-rich plasma injection, but he's hoping the shockwave treatment will allow him to be fully healed by spring training. "I've recovered so well," Ortiz said. "But the doctors said, 'Hey, for you not to have to worry about that anymore, you should do it.' And I probably will, just to make sure that I'm not going to have to deal with that anymore. That way, I'll be absolutely 120 percent by spring training. No question.'' Big Papi will be a free agent this winter.
