David Ortiz (heels) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in 1-2 weeks. Ortiz has picked up the pace of his rehab in recent days, but is still bound to open the season on the disabled list. If he doesn't have any setbacks it's possible he could rejoin the Red Sox as soon as mid-April. His timetable for returning remains a moving target.
