David Ortiz (back) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Blue Jays. Ortiz left Tuesday's game with back spasms and is considered day-to-day. Ryan Lavarnway will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday and bat sixth against left-hander Ricky Romero.
