Dave Skretta of the Associated Press reports that the Royals have signed free agent Miguel Tejada. Skretta's source says the deal is worth $1.1 million. Tejada did not appear in the majors in 2012 and batted just .239/.270/.326 in 343 plate appearances with the Giants in 2011, so it seems odd that he was able to score a guaranteed contract valued at twice the MLB minimum. He'll presumably serve as a utility infielder for Kansas City.
