Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Tigers would be willing to part with prospect right-hander Jacob Turner in a potential deal for Athletics' left-hander Gio Gonzalez.
Athletics general manager Billy Beane is said to be "enamored" with Turner, who had a 3.44 ERA and 110/35 K/BB ratio over 131 innings this past season between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo. However, the price tag for Gonzalez remains incredibly high. The A's requested the Tigers to also include prospect third baseman Nick Castellanos and left-hander Drew Smyly in the deal and even asked the Marlins about Mike Stanton at last week's Winter Meetings. Gonzalez is under team control through 2015, so Oakland can afford to wait if they don't find an offer to their liking. According to Knobler, the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Rangers are among the other teams expressing interest.
