The Dodgers released Burns on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Los Angeles placed Burns on outright waivers the same day the team designated him for assignment. Unsurprisingly, none of MLB's other 29 organizations were willing to dedicate a 40-man roster spot to Burns, a 30-year-old journeyman whose nine games with the Dodgers earlier this season marked his first big-league action since 2016. Burns' defensive versatility and strong production over his 165 plate appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season (.841 OPS, 10-for-11 success rate on stolen-base attempts) should at least allow him to catch on elsewhere on a minor-league deal.
