The White Sox released Phillips on Saturday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Phillips signed a minor-league deal with Chicago in January and has slashed just .120/.228/.280 across 57 plate appearances at Triple-A Charlotte. He'll now look to latch on with another organization on a minor-league deal, but his odds of contributing in the big leagues again are slim.
