The Chicago Cubs have signed catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy was recently designated for assignment by the Angels and will provide the Cubs with a veteran presence behind the plate with Willson Contreras (hamstring) sidelined for a month. Lucroy could share time with Victor Caratini and the move also means that Taylor Davis could be demoted to Triple-A. Lucroy was hitting just .242 with seven home runs and 30 RBI for the Angels. He can be avoided for now.
