The Chicago Cubs selected shortstop Nico Hoerner 24 overall in the MLB Amateur draft out of Stanford University. Hoerner is a right-handed hitting shortstop that is considered at reach at 24, but the Cubs care not for your mock drafts - Kyle Schwarber was projected as a potential third round pick before being selected fourth overall. Hoerner does not project to have plus power, but should be able to hit for average and steal bases.
