The Chicago Cubs have designated outfielder Steven Souza Jr. for assignment after he went 0-for-2 in Game 1 of Saturdays doubleheader against the Cardinals. The outfielder spent some time this season on the injured list with a hamstring strain, but was hitting a poor .160 with one home run, five RBI and a stolen base.
