Craig was outrighted off the 40-man roster Friday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

The move doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Craig has essentially become a minor league player since going to Boston. In 65 games with the Red Sox over the past two seasons, he's hit just .139, so it appears he will accept his assignment rather than try his luck in free agency.
